Lectures and Workshops by Deborah Bacon

Tea with Strawberries & Cream
This lecture is an invitation to share tea with Strawberries & Creams in a new quilt that features whimsical teapots. There are so many things that have been forgotten about having, "A Tea". A brief lecture about tea and its charming traditions is presented along with answering the question about whether to hand applique or do fusible applique.

Workshop:
A Teapot Block - A half day class. You can choose from any of the teapot blocks. Technique: Fusible Applique.

Plaid Mania
A study in how to use plaids in a quilt. The different types of plaids are described and identified. Keys to how to handle bias, either on your strips or triangles are shared.

Workshop:
Shadow Plaid Quilt - (A full size quilt) all day class. The class will use all types of plaids in learning about value and color. You will also use triangle paper to do the piecing. I have done this project as a swap as well as on an individual basis.

Cross Your Heart Quilt - (app. 27½" x 27½") all day class. The class demonstrates how to take 4 plaids and mix them together using different techniques such as machine piecing and hand applique.

Sample A Sampler
My first quilt was a sampler and I have had a fascination about them ever since. This lecture explains the process of making a sampler quilt and how to share it with a group. Be careful this can be contagious.

Workshop:
Spring Sampler - (app. 46½" x 56") all day class. This quilt project includes machine piercing, fusible applique, and paper piecing.
